Request a quote

The LIVERANI RID pump is a self-priming impeller pump driven by a gear motor. Manufacturer: LIVERANI s.r.l. (Via De’ Brozzi 94, 48022 Lugo, Province of Ravenna, Italy). The company was founded in the 1950s. The equipment is manufactured in accordance with CE standards.

The series comprises four models: the RID MINOR 40, the RID MAJOR 60, the RID MAXI 80 and the twin-motor RID MAXI Double 2Q-2H. The motors are three-phase, with a power output of up to 7.5 kW. The rotational speed ranges from 235 to 700 rpm. According to the manufacturer’s data sheet, the maximum flow rate is 72,000 litres per hour for the MAXI 80 model. This is the upper limit for the entire LIVERANI range of impeller pumps.

Four RID sizes

Size Power, max. Mass Revolutions
RID MINOR 40 2.2 kW 42 kg 280, 350, 470, 560, 700 rpm
RID MAJOR 60 4.5 kW 44 kg 235, 280, 300, 350, 470, 560, 700 rpm
RID MAXI 80 7.5 kW 65 kg 235, 300, 470, 600 rpm
RID MAXI Double 2Q-2H as per the specification 180 kg 235, 470 rpm

Mounting of the support frame: Ø11 for MINOR 40 and MAJOR 60, Ø14 for MAXI 80, DIN 80 for the Double version.

The MAJOR 60 offers the widest range of speeds — seven settings. It is the most versatile model in the series when selecting the right speed for a specific feed rate.

What is the drive from the gear motor?

A gear motor is a motor and a gearbox housed in a single casing. The gearbox shaft directly drives the pump impeller.

First consequence: reduced speed without a belt drive. A standard engine runs at 1,400 or 2,800 rpm, whilst the pump requires 235–700 rpm. The gearbox achieves this within the unit itself, without a belt or pulleys.

Second benefit: there is no belt that needs to be tensioned, monitored or replaced. For production facilities where frequent cleaning is required, this means fewer components that come into contact with water and cleaning solution.

Consequence three: rigid torque transmission. In the event of high viscosity or elevated pressure, the gearbox transmits torque without slippage, whereas a belt operating at its limit may slip.

Fourth consequence: compact height. The unit is arranged in a single line, with the motor not positioned to the side.

The speed is determined by the gearbox’s transmission ratio; in other words, it is selected at the time of specification and cannot be changed during operation. For smooth speed control, models with a frequency converter are used.

Specifications for the RID MAXI Double 2Q-2H

In addition to the three standard sizes, the manufacturer offers the RID MAXI Double 2Q-2H twin version. It weighs 180 kg, has a DIN 80 mounting, and operates at speeds of 235 and 470 rpm.

This is the heaviest model in the entire LIVERANI range of impeller pumps. By way of comparison, a single RID MAXI 80 weighs 65 kg.

The configuration of the twin unit and its operating diagram are agreed with the manufacturer at the time of ordering.

The LIVERANI RID pump, amongst other series in the range

The hydraulics are the same across all nine series. The difference lies in the drive system.

The series Drive Revolutions
RID geared motor 235–700 rpm
GR belt drive 235–700 rpm
EP coaxial motor 470–1,400 rpm
VA / INV variator or converter 50–1,400 rpm
INV BS inverter with a panel from 175 rpm
MINIVERTER converter in the terminal box 285–1,400 rpm
MID hydraulic motor 150–900 rpm
SP No, free shaft sets the customer’s drive
ALL IN ONE converter with flow meter and control panel as per the specification

RID and GR offer the same speed range, but in different ways. The RID achieves this via a gearbox inside the unit, whilst the GR uses a belt drive with an external motor. The RID is more compact and has no belt; the GR is mounted on a trolley for mobility.

How to choose a LIVERANI RID pump at Steiner Ukraine

Seven pieces of information are required for selection: the required flow rate in litres per hour, the head or pipeline resistance in metres, the name of the product, its viscosity and temperature, the presence and size of any solid particles, the type and size of the connection, and the steel grade of the casing.

The speed is selected during configuration based on the gearbox’s transmission ratio. If the feed rate needs to be adjusted during operation, this falls under a different series — please let us know this straight away.

Steiner Ukraine supplies LIVERANI equipment together with design calculations, complete sets and spare parts, including impellers made from various elastomers. The scope is described in the section services. Industrial pumps — in the section industrial pumps, equipment for food production — in in a separate section. Sector-specific recruitment — in sector-specific solutions. The technical specifications of the original source are published at the LIVERANI website.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum flow rate of the LIVERANI RID pump?
72,000 litres per hour, as specified in the manufacturer’s data sheet for the MAXI 80. This is the top model in the LIVERANI range of impeller pumps.

How many sizes are there in the RID range?
Four: MINOR 40, MAJOR 60, MAXI 80 and the dual-version MAXI Double 2Q-2H.

What is a gear motor?
The motor and gearbox are housed in a single casing. The gearbox reduces the motor’s speed to the 235–700 revolutions per minute required by the pump, without the need for a belt drive.

Can the flow be adjusted?
The speed is determined by the gearbox’s transmission ratio and is selected at the time of configuration. For smooth speed control during operation, models equipped with a frequency converter are used.

How does RID differ from GR?
The speed range is the same. The RID uses a gearbox inside the unit, whilst the GR uses a belt drive with an external motor. The RID is more compact and has no belt, whilst the GR is mounted on a trolley.

How much does the pump weigh?
42 kg for the MINOR 40, 44 kg for the MAJOR 60, 65 kg for the MAXI 80 and 180 kg for the Double version.

What is the engine power?
Up to 2.2 kW for the MINOR 40, up to 4.5 kW for the MAJOR 60 and up to 7.5 kW for the MAXI 80. The motors are three-phase.

Is the pump self-priming?
Yes, up to 6 m. The pump primes the suction line automatically, without the need for manual priming.

Is it safe to run the pump dry?
Prolonged operation without fluid in the housing is not permitted. The flexible blades come into contact with the housing wall and are damaged by dry friction.

How much does a LIVERANI RID pump cost?
The price depends on the model size, the gearbox ratio, the motor power, the steel grade of the casing, the impeller material and the connection type. Please send us the flow rate, head, product and connection details — we will prepare a quotation.
