Why dose liquid nitrogen into the container before capping?
A drop of liquid nitrogen evaporates in the neck and displaces oxygen from the headspace. This solves two tasks at once: it protects the product from oxidation and creates an overpressure that makes lightweight containers rigid.
How does this affect the shelf life?
Reducing residual oxygen slows the oxidation of fats, vitamins and colourants — juices, oil, tea, wine and other sensitive products retain their taste and colour longer. This makes it possible either to extend the shelf life or to reduce the amount of preservatives in the recipe.
Why is pressure needed in still drinks?
A thin-walled PET bottle or an aluminium can without internal pressure deforms during stacking and transport. Nitrogen creates an overpressure that holds the shape of the container — this makes it possible to lighten the preform and save on material without losing the product's appearance.
How accurate must the dosing be and how is it synchronised with the line?
The volume of the drop is selected to suit the container and the required pressure, and the delivery is synchronised with the conveyor speed: the nitrogen must enter the neck exactly before capping. The doser is integrated into the line using signals from the filler and the capper — this is a standard part of commissioning.
What is needed on the production side for the doser to work?
A supply of liquid nitrogen and a cryogenic tank, insulated lines to the doser, and compliance with safety requirements: ventilation of the area, monitoring of the oxygen content in the air, trained personnel. We agree these conditions at the stage of designing the solution.
