ProMinent HYDRO, MAKRO, ORLITA hydraulic diaphragm pump

The ProMinent hydraulic diaphragm pump is a process metering pump in which the diaphragm is moved by hydraulic fluid. The group includes nine models of the HYDRO, MAKRO and ORLITA series. Flow rate: 0.01 to 9,200 l/h; pressure: up to 400 bar with a PTFE diaphragm, up to 900 bar with a metal double diaphragm and up to 3,000 bar in the ORLITA MHHP.

How does the ProMinent hydraulic diaphragm pump work?

The hydraulic fluid creates back pressure on the drive side. According to the manufacturer, this makes the diaphragms durable and keeps metering accurate at high pressure.

A relief valve in the hydraulic section protects the pump against overload. Multi-layer diaphragms come with a rupture warning system as standard, so the chemical does not mix with the hydraulic oil. The model is selected by pressure and flow rate:

up to 100 bar — HYDRO API or HYDRO Classic;
high flow rates up to 6,108 l/h at pressures up to 25 bar — MAKRO M5Ha;
up to 400 bar — ORLITA MF or ORLITA Evolution;
micro-metering from 0.01 l/h under pressure — ORLITA Evolution mikro;
above 400 bar — ORLITA MH with a metal diaphragm or ORLITA MHHP.

How do the HYDRO, MAKRO and ORLITA series differ?

HYDRO API is designed to API 675: PTFE multi-layer diaphragm with condition monitoring, automatic bleeding, accuracy better than ±1 %. Up to five units can be combined in one assembly.
MAKRO M5Ha is designed for high flow rates. Dosing heads made of PVDF, carbon-filled PTFE, PVC, PP or stainless steel 1.4571; the design complies with API 675.
ORLITA MF operates at −40…+150 °C with a suction lift of up to 8 m. Cone valves have low wear and low pressure loss. Up to six units can be combined in one assembly.
ORLITA Evolution monitors the diaphragm position. The pump is not damaged if the suction or discharge line is blocked.
ORLITA Evolution mikro has an electronically controlled linear drive and a control range of 1:200.
ORLITA MH and MHHP have metal diaphragms for the highest pressures. MHHP is intended for non-hazardous areas.

Where is the ProMinent hydraulic diaphragm pump used?

The manufacturer lists onshore and offshore oil and gas production, refineries, the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industries, as well as bottling pumps in packaging. For pressures up to 25 bar without a hydraulic drive, use process diaphragm pumps. For media temperatures up to +400 °C — ORLITA PS plunger pumps.
