ProMinent EXTRONIC and MAKRO TZMb diaphragm metering pump

Request a quote

The ProMinent diaphragm metering pump for the process industry is a hermetically sealed pump for aggressive media. The group includes two models for different purposes: EXTRONIC for hazardous areas and MAKRO TZMb for high flow rates. Flow rate: 1 to 2,100 l/h; back pressure: 25 to 1 bar.

ProMinent diaphragm metering pump: which model to choose?

The task determines the model. If the pump is installed in a zone with an explosive gas atmosphere, choose EXTRONIC. It meters up to 60 l/h at pressures up to 25 bar.

If a high flow rate is required, choose MAKRO TZMb. It meters 260 to 2,100 l/h at pressures of 12 to 4 bar. Motors for hazardous areas are available for it. The general operating principle of ProMinent metering pumps is described on the ProMinent brand page.

The model Capacity Back pressure, bar A distinctive feature
EXTRONIC 1–60 l/h 25–1 solenoid drive, ATEX
MAKRO TZMb 260–2,100 l/h 12–4 modular design, one or two dosing heads

EXTRONIC: metering in hazardous areas

Parameter Value
Explosion protection ATEX 2014/34/EU, EEx d IIC T6
Drive short-stroke solenoid, stroke 1.25 mm
Accuracy better than ±2 % in the 30–100 % stroke length range
Membrane DEVELOPAN® with PTFE coating and rupture monitoring
Dosing head materials PP, PVC, carbon-filled PTFE, clear acrylic, stainless steel
Management internal, external contact, analogue signal
Power supply 230 V or 115 V, automatic 50/60 Hz switching
Enclosure rating IP65, even with the front cover open

A microprocessor compensates for mains voltage fluctuations. The self-bleeding dosing head allows operation with outgassing media.

MAKRO TZMb: modular pump for high flow rates

Parameter Value
Stroke 0–10 mm, rod force 8,000 N
Stroke adjustment manual in 0.5 % increments, optional actuator
Accuracy better than ±2 % in the 30–100 % stroke length range
Membrane multi-layer safety diaphragm with rupture signalling
Dosing head materials PVC, PP, carbon-filled PTFE, stainless steel 1.4404
Body cast aluminium with acrylic resin coating, seawater-resistant, IP55

The pump is supplied with one or two dosing heads. Two heads operate in push-pull mode. Up to four metering units with different flow rates can be combined in one assembly; five gear ratios are available.

Where is the ProMinent diaphragm metering pump used?

The manufacturer lists onshore and offshore oil and gas production, refineries, and the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industries. Safety when handling aggressive chemicals is covered in the article “Safety first: modern systems for metering and packaging aggressive chemicals”.

For pressures above 25 bar, use ProMinent hydraulic diaphragm pumps. For flow rates up to 1,040 l/h and pressures up to 16 bar, you can also use Sigma motor-driven pumps.

Selection and service from Steiner Ukraine

To select a process diaphragm pump, we clarify:

  • the chemical, its concentration and temperature;
  • the flow rate and back pressure at the duty point;
  • the ATEX zone and temperature class;
  • the number of injection points for a multi-head assembly;
  • the control method and supply voltage.

Based on this data, we determine the model, size and wetted materials. Then come delivery, service and spare parts. Steiner Ukraine has been operating in the industrial equipment market since 2006.
