VerderMix – A dynamic mixer for tanks

The VerderMix direct-drive dynamic agitator for tanks is a shaft with an agitator driven directly by an electric motor, without a gearbox. Manufacturer: Verder; product range: VerderMix. The equipment is designed for liquids of any viscosity, with or without solids, for vessels ranging from small to very large. Two models are available: VNF and VSM.

What does ‘direct drive’ mean, and how does it differ from a gear-driven system?

The manufacturer classifies dynamic mixers by drive type. Direct drive — The motor is mounted directly on the agitator shaft. It operates at high speeds: 750–3,000 rpm. Indirect drive — There is a gearbox between the engine and the shaft, and the speed drops to between 15 and 350 rpm.

It is not a question of quality, but of the task at hand. High speeds provide intensive mixing of low-viscosity media and dissolution; low speeds provide gentle mixing, where it is important not to break up the flakes or the product’s structure. Gear-driven mixers are VerderMix - Dynamic indirect mixers.

VerderMix agitators are designed to ensure that there are no dead zones or sediment in the bottom or sides of the tank. Radial and axial agitators are available for circulation and mixing.

The VNF and VSM models

VNF — the entry-level model in the range. It is fitted with standard IEC-sized electric motors, which makes it easier to replace the motor and source spare parts.

VSM — A version fitted with a special electric motor with a hollow shaft. This provides a longer shaft at lower revs.

Types of mixers

There are five types available for both models: PS in a fold-out version, L, PSL, Z and RB. The PS folding agitator fits through a manhole with a smaller diameter than the working diameter of the agitator itself — this is a crucial detail for installation in a closed vessel.

The manufacturer does not publish a separate description of each type in the public domain; the choice is determined by the medium, the capacity and the required flow pattern — radial or axial.

Where are VerderMix direct-drive mixers used?
