KRAL pump station EK \/ EL — triple‑screw unit on a frame

Request a quote

Pump station KRAL EK \/ EL — a ready‑to‑connect unit for fuel supply systems to burners. Manufacturer — KRAL, Austria. On a common frame are assembled a triple‑screw pump, safety valve, filter, shut‑off and control valve. EK stations are built on series K pumps, EL stations — on series L pumps; this is the source of the difference in working pressure.

What a ready‑made station provides compared with a separate pump

A separate pump — is the hydraulic part, to which on the site you still need to select a drive, coupling and over‑pressure protection. In an EK \/ EL station this set is already coordinated and factory‑tested: safety valve is set, filter and valve are selected for the calculated mode, measurement points are brought out externally. The savings here are not so much in installation as in the design stage of the coupling.

About the principle of operation of the triple‑screw pair — in the material Features of screw pumps.

How EK differs from EL

The only difference lies in the base pump and, consequently, in the operating pressure. The EK is based on K-series pumps and operates at up to 6 bar — this is sufficient when the fuel flows from the supply tank to the burner via a short pipe without having to climb. The EL is based on L-series pumps and withstands pressures of up to 40 bar — it is used when the circuit includes long pipework, an elevation, injectors or heat exchangers. The flow, temperature and viscosity ranges are the same for both product lines.

Technical specifications for the KRAL EK / EL

Parameter Value
Type three-screw pumping station on a frame
Basic pump K series (EK) · L series (EL)
Capacity 5–280 litres per minute
Max. pressure 6 bar (EK) · 40 bar (EL)
Operating viscosity 1.1–7000 mm²/s
Fluid temperature −20…+180 °C
Housing material high-strength EN-GJS-400 cast iron
Screws nitrided steel
Heating electric · heat transfer fluid · steam

Station configuration

The basic composition is the same for both ranges:

  • a three-screw pump of the K or L series with an electric motor mounted on a common frame
  • built-in safety valve
  • a filter mesh with an increased surface area on the intake side
  • ball valves on the supply line
  • pressure gauge and vacuum gauge with a shut-off device
  • heating — electric, by heat transfer fluid or steam

Options

The station is customised for a specific process: pressure regulation, degassing, flow measurement, additional filtration, and gas–air separation. The range of options is incorporated into the model code, so the configuration is finalised at the ordering stage rather than being retrofitted on site.

EK model range: EKL11, EKL12, EKL13, EKL14, EKS11, EKS12, EKS13.
EL model range: ELL11, ELL12, ELL13, ELL14, ELS11, ELS12, ELS13.

If a second pump is required for backup, that’s already DKC / DLC / DS-L twin stations.

Where are EK/EL stations used?

  • supply of liquid fuel to boiler burners and thermal oil heaters
  • Heated supply lines for fuel oil and heavy fuels
  • pumping of lubricants and hydraulic oils in the range 1.1–7,000 mm²/s
  • process circuits where a steady, pulsation-free flow is required

Selection and service from Steiner Ukraine

The station is selected based on the circuit rather than the pump: first, the system resistance at operating temperature is calculated, and this determines whether it is an EK or an EL model. Next, the model size, motor power, heating method and range of options are determined. Supply, commissioning and spare parts — Steiner Ukraine services, operating in the industrial equipment market since 2006.
