Dellmeco DME Metal Diaphragm Pump

Dellmeco DME Metal Diaphragm Pump is an electro-mechanical double diaphragm pump with a housing made of aluminium, PTFE-coated aluminium, cast iron or AISI 316 stainless steel. The series is designed for industrial transfer of slurries, suspensions, paints and viscous products. The manufacturer is the Polish company Dellmeco. Dellmeco DME Metal diaphragm pump: which housing to choose?

The housing material is selected by compatibility with the product: AISI 316 if the process requires stainless steel, otherwise aluminium or cast iron. Pump weight depends on the material and is given in the table below. With NBR or EPDM diaphragms, the aluminium pump operates up to 70 °C, briefly up to 80 °C; with TFM/PTFE diaphragms, up to 110 °C, briefly up to 120 °C.

Flow rates are given at a 50 Hz mains frequency. Discharge pressure is up to 6 bar.

Dry suction lift ranges from 3 m (DME 20) to 5 m (DME 50 and 80); wet suction lift is 8 m. Diaphragms: NBR, EPDM, TFM or TFM/PFA; valve balls: NBR, EPDM, PTFE, and for DME 20–50 also AISI 316 or polyurethane.

How does DME differ from an air-operated diaphragm pump?

DME diaphragms are driven by an electric motor through a crank, not by compressed air. No compressor or air network is needed. The diaphragm stroke is constant, so the flow is almost independent of pressure and viscosity. Flow is controlled by a frequency inverter within 70–140% of the rated value.

Where is the Dellmeco DME Metal diaphragm pump used?

The manufacturer lists metallurgy, mining and ceramics, production of pigments, paints, resins and coatings, the automotive and paper industries, stone processing, shipbuilding, water supply and wastewater treatment. What monitoring options does DME Metal offer?

• Diaphragm rupture monitoring — a capacitive sensor in the diaphragm chamber, also available for ATEX zones.
• Pressure switch switches off the motor when the set discharge pressure is reached.
• Stroke counter — a non-contact sensor of diaphragm movement.
• ATEX version marked II 2G IIB T4…T3 Gb, only with a drive installed by Dellmeco.
• DIN, ANSI or JIS flanges, trolley, bare-shaft supply without drive.
