What media is the gear pump intended for?

For viscous liquids with lubricating properties and without abrasive: oils, lubricants, glycerine, molasses, resins, polymers, bitumen, varnishes, edible fats and chocolate masses in the appropriate design. This is the classic pump for transferring and dosing thick clean products.

What is the difference between internal and external gear pumps?

External gear pumps are simpler and cheaper, deliver higher pressure and work on less demanding tasks. Internal gear pumps have a more uniform delivery, less pulsation and handle the product more gently, which is why they are chosen for food and polymer applications.

What should be done with products that solidify?

For chocolate, bitumen, paraffin and resins, versions with a heating jacket on the casing are supplied — steam, water or electric. The heating keeps the product in a liquid state and prevents the pump from seizing at shutdown. This is a standard option, which is provided for as early as the selection stage.

How accurate is the delivery?

The delivery is volumetric and depends linearly on the speed, therefore the pump is also used as a dosing pump — paired with a frequency converter. The accuracy is the higher, the more stable the viscosity of the product and the less worn the clearances between the gears and the casing.

Why is it not possible to pump abrasive media?

The operation of the pump rests on minimal clearances between the gears and the casing. Abrasive particles quickly increase these clearances, the delivery drops, internal slip appears — and the pump loses its serviceability. For suspensions with solid inclusions, peristaltic, diaphragm or screw pumps are used.
