The TMXFLOW brazed plate heat exchanger is a compact non-dismountable unit for transferring heat between two media. The plates are brazed into a single pack, so no frame, tie bolts or gaskets are needed.
Such a unit takes up little space and suits installation in confined areas. The general working principle of plate heat exchangers is described on the page TMXFLOW – Heat Exchangers.
How is a brazed plate heat exchanger designed?
Corrugated plates are stacked into a pack and brazed together. Channels form between the plates, through which the hot and cold media flow alternately in counterflow.
Corrugation creates turbulence, so the heat transfer coefficient is high. The unit has no gaskets.
How does a brazed unit differ from a gasketed one?

If the product leaves deposits or the capacity may change, choose the TMXFLOW gasketed plate heat exchanger.
Where is the TMXFLOW brazed plate heat exchanger used?
- heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems;
- heat pumps;
- chillers and refrigeration systems;
- industrial process lines — heating and cooling of auxiliary media.
Brazed units are also used for heat recovery. How to estimate savings from heat recovery is described in the article on heat recovery in food production.
What to consider when selecting?
A brazed unit cannot be opened, so the quality of the media matters. An inlet filter is advisable, and water hardness should be controlled.
Selection requires the media, flow rates, inlet and outlet temperatures, allowable pressure drop and operating pressure. The general approach to selection is in the article «How to choose the optimal heat exchanger».

FAQ
Can a brazed heat exchanger be opened?
No. The plates are brazed together, so the unit is cleaned chemically without opening.
Does a brazed heat exchanger have gaskets?
No. Tightness is provided by brazing, so no gasket replacement is needed.
Where is a brazed plate heat exchanger most often used?
In HVAC systems, heat pumps, chillers and refrigeration systems, and in auxiliary circuits of industrial lines.
What to choose if the product leaves deposits?
A gasketed plate heat exchanger: it can be opened and cleaned mechanically.
