REDA – RE-B bacteria removal separators

Request a quote

The REDA RE-B bacteria removal separator removes bacteria and spores from milk by centrifugal force. This mechanical cleaning complements pasteurisation and sterilisation, as spores are heat-resistant.

Steiner Ukraine is the REDA distributor in Ukraine. The common principles of REDA equipment, including UHT configurations and separator design, are described on the page REDA.

What does milk bactofugation achieve?

Bacteria, spores and microorganisms affect product quality and shelf life. The REDA RE-B bacteria removal separator delivers the following results:

  • over 80% reduction of total bacteria;
  • over 95% reduction of aerobic spores;
  • over 98% reduction of anaerobic spores.

How does the REDA bacteria removal separator work?

The operator selects one of two operating modes. The traditional two-phase mode gives the maximum reduction of bacterial load.

In the one-phase mode, the bacteria-rich phase is recirculated into the raw milk. Product losses are lower than in the traditional mode.

The machine treats milk gently and does not damage fat globules. Solids are discharged automatically.

Where is bactofugation used?

The bactofuge is installed in lines for pasteurised fresh milk, UHT milk, milk powder and cheese. It is also used for whey proteins in baby food.

In ESL milk production, spore removal complements heat treatment. More details on the page of the ESL milk pasteuriser. The separator integrates easily into an existing processing line.

Supply and service by Steiner Ukraine

We select the bacteria removal separator for the product, capacity and line configuration. We also supply REDA equipment and carry out installation, commissioning and service in Ukraine. The price is quoted on request after the technical specification is agreed.

FAQ

How much does the REDA bactofuge reduce spores?

Over 95% of aerobic and over 98% of anaerobic spores.

How does the one-phase mode differ from the two-phase mode?

In the one-phase mode, the bacteria-rich phase returns to the raw milk, so product losses are lower. The two-phase mode gives the maximum reduction of bacterial load.

Can a bactofuge be installed in an existing line?

Yes. RE-B separators are designed for integration into existing milk processing lines.
