OME Motors electric motors are industrial motors from the Italian manufacturer OME Motors. Steiner Ukraine is the official distributor of OME Motors in Ukraine. The manufacturer produces low- and high-voltage induction motors, explosion-proof motors, permanent magnet motors, DC motors and synchronous generators.

We select the motor for the load, the supply network and the operating conditions. We supply motors for new equipment and as replacements.

What does OME Motors manufacture?

OME Motors has been operating since 1960. Production is located in the province of Brescia, Italy.

Design, machining of cast-iron frames, winding, assembly and testing of every motor are carried out at the company’s own plant. This allows the factory to build motors to a specified power, voltage, frame size, certification and design features.

Key range parameters:

  • power — up to 50 MW;
  • voltage — up to 13.8 kV;
  • efficiency classes — IE1 to IE4 per IEC 60034-30-1, depending on the series;
  • explosion-proof versions — ATEX and IECEx;
  • quality management system — ISO 9001.

Which OME Motors electric motors does Steiner Ukraine supply?

Group Series Key parameters
General-purpose induction Standard 0.18–2000 kW, IE1–IE4, voltage 220–1000 V
Explosion-proof OMEX LV, OMEX HV, OMNEX ATEX, IECEx, Ex d IIB/IIC, T4, frame sizes 80–710
Permanent magnet OMPM 0.75–2500 kW, efficiency above IE4, VFD-fed or line-start
High-voltage OMV, OMVP, OMVK, OMVKS, OMA voltage up to 13.8 kV; OMA — slip-ring rotor
Direct current OMDC 0.4–500 kW, armature voltage 180–500 V
Single-phase OMM1, OMM2 for 220 V single-phase networks
Special OMS, NEMA, UL/CSA, GOST smoke extraction motors; versions to NEMA, UL/CSA and GOST standards
Synchronous generators — brushless; cogeneration, hydro and wind power, emergency power

How to choose an industrial electric motor?

Selection requires five groups of data:

  1. Load — shaft power, kW.
  2. Speed and torque — rotational speed, load profile, starting conditions.
  3. Supply network — voltage and frequency at the installation site; direct-on-line or VFD supply.
  4. Operating conditions — temperature, installation altitude, IP rating, hazardous area.
  5. Project requirements — efficiency class, certification.

These data define the motor type, frame size, efficiency class, enclosure design and certification.

To replace a motor on existing equipment, the nameplate data are sufficient: power, voltage, speed, frame size and mounting arrangement (foot or flange).

Low or high voltage

Under IEC, low-voltage motors are rated up to 1000 V, high-voltage motors above 1000 V. Standard high-voltage ratings are 3.3, 6, 6.6, 10 and 13.8 kV.

The choice depends mainly on power. From about 300 kW a high-voltage motor is often more economical overall: cables and switchgear cost less, although the motor itself costs more.

Induction or permanent magnet

An induction motor is the basic solution for drives running at constant speed. A permanent magnet motor is appropriate where speed is controlled and the motor runs at partial load for long periods. A comparison of the two types is given in the product page for the series OMPM.

Explosion-proof versions: how to read the marking

Using the marking II 2 G Ex d IIC T4 as an example:

  • II — equipment group for surface installations. Group I is for mines.
  • 2 — equipment category: installation permitted in Zones 1 and 2.
  • G — atmosphere with explosive gases and vapours.
  • Ex d — flameproof enclosure. An explosion inside the enclosure is not transmitted to the surrounding atmosphere.
  • IIB / IIC — gas subgroups. IIC is the most stringent and includes hydrogen and acetylene. A motor marked IIC can also be used for gases of subgroups IIB and IIA.
  • T4 — temperature class: surface temperature does not exceed 135 °C.

The explosion protection of a unit is determined by all of its components. The pump, motor and coupling must therefore all match the zone classification.

Where are OME Motors electric motors used?

OME Motors motors drive pumps, compressors, fans and blowers, conveyors, machine tools, presses and turbines.

For the industries Steiner Ukraine works with, these are:

  • food and beverage production;
  • water treatment and purification;
  • chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries;
  • ventilation and air handling.

Motors are supplied separately or together with industrial pumps and food-grade pumps. Complete solutions for individual industries are described in the section «Industry Solutions».

What are the benefits of working with an official distributor?

  • Motor selection based on technical data and verification against operating conditions.
  • Non-standard versions (voltage, IP rating, heaters, thermal protection) are agreed directly with the factory.
  • A replacement motor is selected from the nameplate data.
  • Pump and motor can be sourced from one supplier. For pumps we also offer spare parts for pumps.
  • Delivery across Ukraine.

FAQ about OME Motors electric motors

Who is the official distributor of OME Motors in Ukraine?

Steiner Ukraine. The company selects and supplies OME Motors motors for new equipment and as replacements.

Where are OME Motors electric motors made?

In Italy, in the province of Brescia. Design, frame machining, winding, assembly and testing are carried out at the company’s own plant.

Which efficiency classes are available?

From IE1 to IE4 per IEC 60034-30-1, depending on the series. OMPM permanent magnet motors have efficiency above the IE4 threshold.

Does OME Motors make explosion-proof motors?

Yes, the OMEX and OMNEX series. ATEX and IECEx certificates are included in the standard supply of the OMEX series.

How to select a replacement motor?

Send a photo or the nameplate data of the existing motor. We need power, voltage, speed, frame size and mounting arrangement.

How to get a price?

The price depends on the series, version and quantity. Send a request, and we will prepare a quotation.
