Which zones and atmospheres is the OMEX LV explosion-proof motor designed for?
OMEX LV motors belong to Group II, Category 2G. They are installed in Zones 1 and 2 with gases and vapours of subgroups IIB and IIC at temperature class T4.
The marking is explained on the page OME Motors.
Typical applications:
- pumping and mixing of solvents, alcohols and flammable liquids in chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics production;
- ventilation of hazardous areas;
- compressor equipment;
- boiler equipment.
The explosion protection of a unit is determined by all its components, so a pump for a hazardous area must also have a suitable design — see industrial pumps.
Does the motor run from a frequency converter?
OMEX LV motors can run from a frequency converter. The supply mode and thermal protection are agreed during selection so that the drive parameters meet the certificate conditions.
What to choose for power above 315 kW?
For loads above 315 kW there is the high-voltage explosion-proof version OMEX HV.
Selection and supply by Steiner Ukraine
Selection requires:
- zone class, gas subgroup and temperature class;
- power and speed;
- supply voltage;
- supply mode — direct-on-line or from a frequency converter;
- mounting arrangement.
ATEX and IECEx certificates are included in the standard supply of the series. The price depends on the version and quantity. We prepare a quotation on request.
FAQ about the OMEX LV explosion-proof motor
Can OMEX LV be installed in Zone 1?
Yes. The II 2 G marking permits installation in Zones 1 and 2 with an explosive gas atmosphere.
Is the motor suitable for hydrogen atmospheres?
The series includes versions for subgroup IIC, which covers hydrogen and acetylene. The subgroup is specified during selection.
What voltages do OMEX LV motors support?
380, 400, 660, 690 and 1140 V.
Does OMEX LV run from a frequency converter?
Yes. The supply mode and thermal protection are agreed during selection.
What is the maximum power of the low-voltage version?
315 kW. For higher power there is the high-voltage version OMEX HV.
