Self-priming pumps: easy start and reliable pumping

Self-priming pumps are centrifugal pumps that automatically remove air from the suction line and start pumping without priming. Their design includes a special chamber and an impeller to create a vacuum and ensure that the liquid is supplied from the lower level.

How it works:
When the pump starts, it draws in air along with the remaining liquid in the casing, mixes them, creates a vacuum and initiates the liquid to rise to the impeller.

Main functions

  • Self-priming: start without pre-filling
  • Pumping: water, wastewater, liquids with particles
  • Drainage: drainage of tanks, trenches, flooded areas
  • Flexibility: operation in case of fluid supply interruptions

These pumps comply with common performance and safety standards, ensuring reliability and versatility in use.

Areas of application

  • Agriculture: irrigation, pumping from canals
  • Construction: pumping water from pits and basements
  • Industry: transport of wastewater, chemical mixtures, sludge
  • Utilities: cleaning of tanks, drainage of rainwater
  • Household: work with pools, ponds, flooded areas
  • Shipbuilding: hold drainage, ballast water pumping

Design features

  • Self-priming: up to 7-8 m without external devices
  • Versatility: work with different types of liquids
  • Easy to launch: built-in chamber stores liquid for a quick start
  • Materials: cast iron, stainless steel, plastic
  • Productivity: tens to hundreds of litres per minute
  • Maintenance: easy cleaning of the impeller through the removable cover
  • Mobility: compact models for portable use

How do I choose a self-priming pump?

  • Type of liquid:
    • Clean water
    • Wastewater, sand, fibres, impurities
  • Suction height:
Determine the vertical distance from the fluid source to the pump
  • Productivity:
Required flow rate (l/min) and head (m) according to the application
  • Type of impeller:
    • Open wheel for dirty liquids
    • Closed wheel - for clean environments
  • Materials:
    • Stainless steel - for aggressive or chemically active liquids
    • Cast iron - for typical operating conditions
  • Additional options:
    • protection against dry running
    • built-in shredders
    • speed control
