HYGHSPIN Hopper — a version of the hygienic HYGHSPIN twin screw pump with an inlet hopper. The pump feeds thick masses with viscosity up to 1000 Pa·s that do not flow by gravity. Higher viscosity is available as an option.

How does HYGHSPIN Hopper work?

The feed screws extend into the hopper zone. They draw the product from below the hopper like an extruder and feed it into the pumping chamber. No separate extruder or screw feeder is needed upstream.

The product enters the chambers by gravity, so solid particles keep their shape. The inlet is enlarged and inlet losses are minimal. This protects against cavitation, including when pumping boiling media.

One pump performs three tasks: emptying, pumping and cleaning. No additional pumps are required for product feed or CIP.

Which products is HYGHSPIN Hopper suitable for?

For masses fed without prior thinning. Among the series applications the manufacturer lists dough and margarine, chocolate and fruit gum masses, meat masses, quark and butter.

For masses that solidify, such as chocolate, the HYGHSPIN series offers a version with a heated or cooled casing. It keeps the product within the required temperature range.

For flowable products, use the base HYGHSPIN. For thick chemical media — CHEMSPIN ES. Why minimal inlet losses matter — see the article “Pump cavitation: symptoms, causes and how to eliminate it”. Materials, elastomers, shaft seals and certificates are common to the whole range — see the Jung Process Systems page.
