REDA milk and whey membrane filtration covers four technologies: microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. The units are built on pre-assembled modular skids.

Steiner Ukraine is the REDA distributor in Ukraine. The common principles of REDA equipment, including UHT configurations and separator design, are described on the page REDA.

REDA milk membrane filtration: which technologies are available?

Technology

Application

Microfiltration (MF)

removal of bacteria from milk, whey, water; protein fractionation; ESL milk; purification of brine and mozzarella cooling water; regeneration of CIP cleaning solutions; final wastewater treatment

Ultrafiltration (UF)

concentration of whey and milk; production of WPC and MPC; protein standardisation for cheese making

Nanofiltration (NF)

whey demineralisation and desalting; concentration of whey, milk, UF permeate

Reverse osmosis (RO)

pre-concentration of milk and whey; permeate polishing; treatment of white water and evaporation condensate

How does milk membrane filtration combine with separators?

Membrane whey concentration complements pre-treatment on REDA separators. Before the membranes, whey is cleaned in a clarifier, skimmed in a cream separator and, if necessary, passed through a bactofuge.

This makes the membranes work longer and more stably.

How are REDA membrane units built?

The units are supplied on pre-assembled modular skids. This simplifies installation and commissioning.

REDA designs them for low operating costs and easy maintenance.

What does milk and whey membrane filtration deliver?
