The KMEV multistage pump is a vertical centrifugal pump with split-case stages, designed for an operating pressure of 40 bar. The series has a flow rate of 30 to 300 m\u00b3\/h, a head of 30 to 190 m, and a speed of 1,500 to 1,800 rpm. The pump is not self-priming and operates with clean or slightly contaminated liquids at temperatures ranging from 0 to 110 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n

A single stage provides limited head. To achieve 190 m, the stages are connected in series: each subsequent stage increases the outlet pressure of the previous one. In KMEV pumps, the stage housings are detachable, so the number of stages is selected to suit the task, rather than using a ready-made, fixed set. The vertical axis solves another problem \u2014 space: a multistage pump is long, and when laid horizontally it takes up a length of over a metre, whereas when positioned vertically it fits within the area of its own flange. Which seal should I choose based on the ambient temperature?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The manufacturer\u2019s catalogue distinguishes between two versions. The standard version features a gland box without cooling or a mechanical seal, suitable for temperatures up to 90 \u00b0C. The optional version features a standardised water-cooled mechanical seal, suitable for temperatures up to 140 \u00b0C. However, the specified temperature range for the series itself on the manufacturer\u2019s website is listed as 0\u2013110 \u00b0C; therefore, for operation above 90 \u00b0C, the seal type and the actual upper limit must be agreed with Masdaf on a case-by-case basis for each specific order.<\/p>\n

The standard version is designed for fresh water. For soft, demineralised or chemically active water, the flow-through section is supplied in stainless steel \u2014 this applies in particular to boiler feedwater, where the water has been treated and is corrosive to cast iron.<\/p>\n

How to position the pipes during installation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the standard configuration, the discharge casing is located at the top, on the motor side, whilst the suction casing is at the bottom, on the opposite side. The suction and discharge flanges can be oriented in various positions at 90\u00b0 intervals, allowing the pump to be integrated into the existing pipework without the need for adaptors.
