Dellmeco DME Plastic Diaphragm Pump is an electro-mechanical double diaphragm pump with a housing made of conductive polyethylene (PE) or PTFE. It handles liquids, viscous products, media containing solids and fluidisable powders. The manufacturer is the Polish company Dellmeco, which has been producing diaphragm pumps since 2004. Steiner Ukraine is the official Dellmeco distributor in Ukraine.

Dellmeco DME Plastic diaphragm pump: PE or PTFE?

The housing material is selected by chemical resistance to the product and by temperature.

Body

Product temperature

Standard sizes

Conductive PE (code R)

up to 70 °C

DME 15, 25, 40, 50, 80

Conductive PTFE (code Z)

up to 110 °C, briefly up to 120 °C

DME 15, 25, 40, 50

Both materials are conductive: the housing is earthed and no static charge builds up. This is why DME Plastic is available in an ATEX version for flammable solvents and alcohols.

How does the DME electro-mechanical diaphragm pump work?

An electric motor drives two diaphragms with a metal core through a crank mechanism. The diaphragm stroke is constant, so the flow remains stable when pressure and viscosity change. No compressed air or hydraulic fluid is needed. Discharge pressure is up to 6 bar.

Diaphragms: EPDM, NBR, TFM or TFM/PFA. Ball valves: EPDM, NBR, PTFE, AISI 316 or polyurethane. Cylinder valves made of PE or PTFE are available for plastic pumps only. Dry suction lift is 3–4 m; wet suction lift is 8 m.

Where is the Dellmeco DME Plastic diaphragm pump used?

The manufacturer lists the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, oil refining, power generation, water supply and wastewater treatment. The pump can run dry for long periods without damage and needs no priming before start-up. How to select materials for aggressive media is covered in the article “How to select a pump for aggressive and chemically active liquids”.

For slurries and industrial media, there is DME Metal made of aluminium, cast iron or AISI 316, and for food products, DME Hygienic.
